Come As You Are

Our Community

Put eleven brilliant members of our community in one room and you get colour, stories, belly laughs and eleven completely different ways of being yourself. We chatted about the pieces they love, the moments that brought them to Lucy & Yak and the little things that make them feel most like themselves. Their answers made us laugh, made us think and reminded us exactly why this community is so special. Come as you are. They did.

“Every kind of person, all in one space together, no matter your size, your pronouns or anything else.”

“I study fashion and textiles, and I’ve always had a fun, colourful sense of style. Lucy & Yak popped up, and the obsession grew from there.”

“My style varies depending on what I’m doing and where I’m going. One day I might dress quite masculine and another day more feminine, it really depends.”

"I love the colours, the fun, the community. I joined the Facebook group a couple of years ago now and I have genuinely found so much support within the group."

“My style is chaotic, whatever I happen to pick up and feel comfortable in. I don’t care whether anyone else likes it, as long as I’m comfortable and happy.”

“I love seeing everybody wearing Lucy & Yak, every size, every shape and every gender identity.”

“I discovered Lucy & Yak in 2018 through the red tartan dungarees, and I haven’t stopped buying them since.”

“My style is quirky and doesn’t really go with anybody else’s. I love a tie, berets in winter and anything a bit different. I don’t own anything plain.”

“We’re all a bit weird in different flavours. We might not fit in anywhere else, but we fit in together here, and that’s so lovely.”

“I’m kind to myself by allowing myself to wear what I like, even when I don’t feel my best in my clothes. Your body fluctuates and moves in all different ways, and you should be kind to yourself through that.”

“My style is very bold. I like to joke that I blend into the background, but I don’t. I wasn’t made to stand in the corner. I was made to be out there and be seen.”
